About The Sloop Inn

The Sloop Inn is one of Cornwall’s oldest and most well-known inns, long loved by locals, fishermen, artists and visitors alike. Believed to date back to around 1312, it’s spent centuries at the heart of harbour life in St Ives.

Sitting right on the waterfront, with only a cobbled forecourt and the harbour road between us and the sea, The Sloop has always been closely tied to the rhythm of the coast.

Step outside and you are moments from St Ives’ beaches, independent shops and galleries, including the Tate, all within easy walking distance.

Location

A Little Slice of the Mediterranean

St Ives has a way of feeling a little different to anywhere else in Britain. With its whitewashed cottages, winding harbour streets and bright coastal light, it carries a charm that often feels closer to the Mediterranean than the far west of Cornwall.

The town gently climbs away from its working fishing harbour, opening out into wide sandy beaches, independent shops and galleries, and a creative community that keeps St Ives lively throughout the year. It is just as suited to slow harbour strolls and beach days as it is to exploring art, food and local culture.

Whether you are braving the Atlantic for a swim, watching fishing boats drift in and out of the harbour, or settling in for fresh seafood overlooking the water, St Ives has a simple, easy-going rhythm that is hard not to fall into.
